But after x number of books some common themes are inevitable.
Author 1 does thing a. Author 2 does thing b. And Lee Modesitt? Well...
- riff off of [[Misaligned Incentives]] and the FDA piece by [[Scott Alexander]]; it is brave and difficult to be "The one responsible for death." There's a difference between pulling a lever to kill someone and failing to stop someone from killing someone, and failing to save someone is often discussed in fiction.
