- purpose:: discuss the role of death and sacrifice in pop culture.
A lot of pop culture icons become so much more culturally powerful after they die. Heath Ledger was a great actor, but he was catapulted to an almost cult status. There's that word again cult. The same with ariana grande de and Marilyn Monroe. Would and john F. Kennedy would these people have still been as powerful and as culturally relevant if they hadn't died young look at songs like Only the good die young and you know, a lot of the iconic figures of the 40s and 50s, who maybe we only really know about them because they died young. There's a great opportunity here to riff off of seanan McGuire's stories about Bobby, the bad guy from the girl in the green, so down books. But the point here is that I'm really curious about death cults and what it means and examples of it in fiction.
